Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how JoyLights (“we”, “the app”) handles information when you use the iOS app. JoyLights estimates ambient light for everyday eye-care habits. It is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis.
1. Product principles
- JoyLights estimates illuminance (lux), correlated color temperature (CCT), and light flicker trends using the iPhone rear camera and related system signals.
- Camera frames are processed on your device for real-time analysis and preview. We do not upload video frames to our servers.
- No separate account signup is required. We do not collect your name, phone number, or contacts, and we do not use camera data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
2. Information we process
- Camera & image data: after you grant camera permission, frames and exposure/white-balance related parameters are used on-device for illuminance, CCT, and flicker estimates.
- On-device preferences: free-session counts, trial/membership flags, and UI preferences may be stored locally (for example in UserDefaults).
- Subscriptions: when App Store in-app purchases are enabled, Apple’s StoreKit manages transactions and receipts. We do not collect your payment card number. Restore Purchases uses Apple’s system mechanisms.
3. How information is used
- To provide light monitoring, eye-care reminders, and (Pro) flicker tools.
- To manage free quota and Pro entitlement state on device.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use camera frames for advertising.
4. Storage & sharing
- On device: app data stays in the JoyLights app sandbox on your iPhone.
- Apple services: App Store / StoreKit may process purchase-related data under Apple’s terms.
- JoyLights currently has no separate cloud account for syncing your lighting measurements.
5. Permissions
Camera access is required for light and flicker estimates. You can revoke it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Without permission, monitoring will not work.
6. Your choices
- Uninstalling the app removes on-device app data on that device (subject to iOS and any backups you made).
- Manage camera permission in system Settings.

7. Health & children
Readings and tips are for everyday reference only, not clinical diagnosis. If you have vision symptoms, consult an eye-care professional. The app is not intended to provide medical care for children.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version will be posted at https://legal.macrosss.com/joylights/privacy/ and may also be shown in the app.
